Challenge Owner Rewards

Challenge Owner rewards are the rewards earned by Challenge Owners for creating and maintaining Challenges in TIG.

Recent Advances

A Recent Advance is defined as a method which has passed the Advance Rewards vote in the past 15 weeks. The number of Recent Advances a challenge accumulates affects the dynamic portion of the Challenge Owner’s rewards.

Rewards Formula

Challenge owner rewards have both static and dynamic (performance related) components. The fraction of the total block reward that is held for challenge owners is:

A challenge owner $i$ has a reward which is the sum of their static and dynamic reward:

\text{CO\_reward}_i = \text{static\_CO\_reward}_i + \text{dynamic\_CO\_reward}_i

The Static and Dynamic Rewards are calculated as follows. A Challenge Owner’s static reward is:

\text{static\_CO\_reward}_i = \frac{\text{CO\_reward\_pool}}{\text{number\_of\_challenges}}\cdot r_{static}

Currently $r_{static} \in [0,1]$ is set to 0.5. The dynamic part is distributed pro-rata to challenge owners based on the number of Recent Advances. If there are no Recent Advances in any challenges, then this reward is evenly distributed to all Challenge Owners.

Let ${recent\_advances}_i$ be the number of recent advances made by challenge owner $i$ :

If $\sum_j {recent\_advances}_j\neq 0$ :

If $\sum_j \text{recent\_advances}_j=0$ :

\text{dynamic\_CO\_reward}_i = \frac{\text{CO\_reward\_pool}}{\text{number\_of\_challenges}} \cdot (1-r_{static})
